The Islamic regime’s human rights abuses are widespread and have been reported in various UN reports, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch reports. Disappearances, executions, torture, rapes, mass arrests, etc. continue. The regime’s crimes are against the Iranian people, but they disproportionately affect women, Kurds, Ahwazi Arabs, Baluchs, other minorities, as well as trade union activists, cultural workers, civil society activists and human rights defenders.
Recently, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights in the Islamic Republic, Dr. Javaid Rehman was quoted regarding his new report:
– Women and girls continue to be treated as second class citizens in Iran, the UN expert says in a report to the Human Rights Council, citing domestic violence, thousands of marriages of girls aged between 10 and 14 each year and continuing entrenched discrimination in law and practice. ”One of the most concerning issues in Iran today when it comes to the rights of women and girls is the issue of child marriage,”
